Lisa

Bittersweet Violet is the brainchild of Lisa Costanzo, a seasoned advertising designer and art director with over 35 years of experience. Transitioning from the advertising world, she pursued a Fine Arts degree at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, securing a traveling scholarship in painting. Her journey led her to the delightful realm of specialty chocolate through local workshops, where she now joyfully expresses her creative and artistic prowess.

Having initially crafted homemade confections for loved ones, Lisa ventured into crafting custom confections for her brother's restaurant, receiving rave reviews. This encouraged her to fulfill her dream of sharing her handmade treats with a broader audience. After honing her skills in artisan chocolate-making, she took her craft to the next level by graduating with honors from The Professional Chocolatier Program at Ecole Chocolat. She continued her education under the guidance of Melissa Coppel, completing the "Running a Chocolate Production" course.

Currently residing in Boston's SOWA district with her loyal companion Everett, Lisa also dedicates her spare moments to fine art painting.

Bittersweet Violet

While I'm not the first Chocolatier to find inspiration in the story of Willy Wonka and his chocolate factory, set in the enchanting world created by Roald Dahl, the recurring theme of 'violet' as both a flavor and a color piqued my curiosity and sparked my love for the rich, bittersweet delight that chocolate embodies.

The vintage aesthetic plays a big part in my approach to my packaging and presentation, adding unique whimsy. When I first began crafting chocolates, I ventured into the delightful fusion of chocolate and violet, giving birth to Bittersweet Violet. It has since evolved into more than a name; it gradually became my alter ego, a character that has slowly integrated itself into my packaging. In this role, I blend the elegance of the Victorian era with the whimsy of Willy Wonka's world, infusing my chocolates with flavors and emotions, creating a truly unique confectionary experience.
